From our Participants
These are some of the positive comments received from participants in Michael Redman's classes in the spring of 2010:
From Dennis, in a message indicating that he has retired and relocated, "I would be remiss if I did not thank you again for your excellent training sessions. As I mentioned previously, your classes were first-rate, both in the actual content and in the effective way the information was presented. It is a pleasure to participate in sessions of the quality of your Level I & II classes. Best wishes for your continued success."
From Fred, "I want to thank you for the fine attendance prize for last Wednesday evening's weather class. You are very kind to arrange the prizes." (Our thanks to St. Louis Electronics/Wireless USA for making them available)
From Mary, "Thank you very much. I have been wanting to take a class for many years and was finally able to attend. I truly enjoyed your presentation. Thank you for doing what you do."
From media and personal interviews with Msgr. Mike Dieckmann, St. Paul's Catholic Church, Fenton, after the tornado of December 31, 2010:
Having just seconds to take refuge in the basement of the church rectory, Msgr. Dieckmann credits Michael Redman's severe weather observation and safety classes for providing the information necessary to know how to observe severe weather and the resultant safety actions that likely saved his life and the life of his fellow pastor (although divine intervention was also present).
Msgr. Dieckmann has attended Michael Redman's classes regularly for the last 30 years. Just before the tornado struck, he was monitoring local public safety and amateur radio channels, observing weather conditions, and had a tone-alert weather radio. About to make a severe weather report, conditions were such that he immediately alerted fellow pastor Fr. Jim Holbrook and they both raced to the basement, just making it when the tornado struck. The rectory and a maintenance building behind it were heavily damaged. Severe weather and observation training saves lives!
Here is an observation from a local amateur radio "hamfest" managerin response to our participation in the event. "Glad to have you at the hamfest. As you know, it is folks like yourself that make the thing work"
After the April 2011 tornado in north St. Louis County, a prominent local police official told Mike Redman that, "The lack of significant injuries and absence of fatalities was due to your (Redman's) many years of severe weather observation and safety training". This is indeed training that can save your life
